A trip to Lembah
Banka Resort is a humble boutique-style resort on the water’s edge. Family-style dining and custom-designed Indonesian cottages are all made of incredibly unique Indonesian hand-carved hardwoods. The unpretentious rustic feel of the resort was seriously upgraded when I opened my eyes to look up at a billion-dollar view of 4 volcanoes on the mainland. It was majestic. The diving here was spectacular, with large populations of turtles and big schools of fish. We enjoyed pristine walls and reefs. Mostly drift dives here. The dive shop has a nice photo area, charging stations, and total valet full-service diving.
Lembeh Resort, A slice of heaven on earth, is a 4-diamond luxury resort with fine dining and exquisite services. The premium rooms are comfortable and plush, with spectacular views. The garden rooms are very lovely and spacious with tropical garden views. The deluxe cottages have well-appointed rooms with partial ocean or pool views.
The dive boats are set up for photographers, with easy in and out. The level of service is impeccable. Lembeh is perfect for divers and non-divers as the spa is world-class, along with the national park and village tours. There are lots to do in this area other than diving. Lembeh has a Backscatter photo center, one of the best I have seen. You can look at all my photos in our photo gallery, click the link on the left side menu, go to Indonesia, and enjoy.
Most of the diving here is macro. However, it’s the largest population of giant seahorses I have ever seen: green, yellow, red, and brown. There are many kinds of octopus to photograph, including ribbon eels, snake eels, and moray eels. The reefs are crazy with color and life. It’s a perfect destination for couples, singles, or photo nuts like me. This resort has rooms that reflect a mini Jade mountain with a private pool. Perfect for a romantic stay.

Location: You will enjoy Wakatobi’s tranquility and secluded area; no traffic noise, pollution, or other dedicated dive resorts for hundreds of miles. Their private charter flight will transport you from Bali to their purpose-built airstrip in less than three hours, followed by a short boat ride to the resort, and your vacation will indeed begin. Located in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia (Southeast Asia) Wakatobi is easily accessible from the US or Europe. Many airlines offer flights to one of the major cities in Asia, with the transfer to Denpasar, Bali, the gateway (and the most impressive and beautiful stop on the way) to Wakatobi.
The private air charter brings you from Bali to the resort’s purpose-built airstrip in a two-and-a-half-hour flight over breathtaking tropical island scenery. After that, it’s a short drive and boat ride to the resort. A light meal is served on the flight, and you will be assisted with all checked baggage.
