Introduction

A New Grand Cayman dive adventure in 2027 and 2028

We’re happy to return to Grand Cayman, where our company first began. Our last official Kids Sea Camp event here was in July 2019. Now, we’re thrilled to partner with a new vendor, Ocean Frontiers, on the east end.
In the past few years, we’ve focused most of our Cayman Islands events on the sister islands, especially Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Now, with all the sisters together, we think it’s going to be grand!

Why Ocean Frontiers

Diving with Ocean Frontiers in Grand Cayman is widely considered a top-tier experience because of their unique focus on the East End, which is far removed from the busy tourist crowds of Seven Mile Beach. They are often described as “land-based liveaboard” for the seamless integration of their accommodations and dive operations.

The “East End” Advantage

While most dive shops in Grand Cayman focus on the West Side, Ocean Frontiers specializes in the remote East End, which offers:

Conservation Leadership

Ocean Frontiers was the first operator in the Cayman Islands to receive the PADI Green Star Award. They are heavily involved in:

  • Coral Restoration: They maintain their own coral nurseries and offer specialty courses to teach divers about reef protection.

  • Lionfish Culling: They are leaders in the effort to manage invasive lionfish, even serving the catch at their on-site restaurant, Eagle Ray’s.

Package Includes

NEED INCLUSIONS: Ocean Frontiers Resort package includes:

  • 7 nights’ accommodations in ocean view rooms
  • 3 meals daily, coffee, juices, and for kids age 16 and under, soft drinks are included

Fins, mask & snorkel for them to KEEP (This is a gift from KSC, it is only for Jr. Open Water students in children’s sizes. Adult sizes are not included for giveaway)

  • Continuing Education courses: you must send a request at the time of booking; the instructor will confirm based on availability. Confirmation will not happen until 1-2 months before the trip’s departure, and will not exceed 4 students.

Schedule

A Grand week of diving

This is a general Kids Sea Camp schedule that can change depending on the weather or other things beyond our control. Other activities such as lionfish hunting, photo dives, PPB dives, boat and drift dives for certified divers can be included in the normal schedule for activities.

  • Saturday: Arrival day and orientation
  • Sunday: 3 boat dives and Sasy, Seal, JOW training
  • Monday: 3 boat dives and Sasy, Seal, training
  • Tuesday: 3 boat dives and Sasy, Seal, training
  • Wednesday: 3 boat dives and Sasy, Seal, training
  • Thursday: 3 boat dives and Sasy, Seal,
  • Friday: Family dive day and closing celebration
  • Saturday: Travel day — back to reality!

Accommodations

Roll out of bed and go diving

Ocean Frontiers operates from Compass Point Dive Resort, purpose-built for divers with a “roll out of bed and onto the boat” layout.
The resort features 28 upscale condominiums in three main categories:

Room Categories

  • One-Bedroom Condos: Offered in Oceanfront, Oceanview, or Deluxe Poolside layouts. These typically include a king or queen bed in a private bedroom and two twin Murphy beds in the living area, accommodating up to four guests.
  • Two-Bedroom Oceanfront: These 1,225 sq. ft. units feature a king master suite and a second bedroom with a queen or two twin beds. With Murphy beds in the living room, these sleep up to six guests.
  • Three-Bedroom Penthouse: Located on upper floors with panoramic ocean views, these spacious units are ideal for families or larger dive groups of up to seven.

Standard Amenities in Every Unit

All condominiums are self-catering and include “home comfort” features:
  • Full Kitchen: Includes major appliances and cookware.
  • In-Room Laundry: Each condo includes a private washer and dryer.
  • Luxury Bathrooms: All units feature Jacuzzi bathtubs.

The Diving

The Diving on the East End

Ocean Frontiers dive the East End District of Grand Cayman, North East, East, and South East, a total of 55 dive sites. The selection and variety of dive sites we visit are so diverse that we have dedicated this page to break down the different diving zones in the East End District and categorize the types of dive sites into sets. Scuba diving with Ocean Frontiers dive shop is always about 2 things: the service and the dive sites. The more you know about the dive sites, the more you will enjoy exploring the most amazing reefs of the Caribbean.

Ocean Frontiers’ service of “valet” service is luxurious; the staff handles all gear management, allowing you to simply “roll out of bed and onto the boat.”
  • PADI SASY program: 6 mornings of activities from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. daily. SASY kids keep fins, mask, and snorkel. (Times may vary depending on the diving)
  • PADI SEAL TEAM: 6 mornings of activities from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. daily, including all 5 aqua missions. SEAL kids keep fins, a mask, and a snorkel. (Times may vary depending on the diving)
  • PADI Open Water: All dives needed for certification (eLearning is not included. For eLearning, you will have to pay PADI directly. (The link will be sent to you 4 weeks before departure to be completed prior to arrival.)

Not included (Any additional courses. This is a fun week of diving!)

Get the Lionfish Tacos

The primary place to eat at Ocean Frontiers is Eagle Ray’s Bar & Grill, which is located directly on-site at the Compass Point Dive Resort. It is a casual, open-air restaurant perched 40 feet above the water, famous for its “no shoes, no shirt, no problem” vibe and its signature Lionfish Tacos, which help control the invasive lionfish population.

Signature Snorkeling Trips

Ocean Frontiers runs several unique snorkel boat trips, appealing to families, adventure seekers, and those wanting a relaxed experience. Trips depart from either their East End dock or the nearby Kaibo Yacht Club:
  • X-Snorkel: Enjoy an exclusive point-to-point float over 1,000 meters of untouched barrier reef. The boat follows you throughout this unique adventure.
  • Dawn Stingrays: Experience a VIP morning at Stingray City, arriving at 6:45 AM for personal interaction with the rays before larger crowds appear.
  • Savor the Champagne Stingrays outing: Unwind with a late-afternoon sandbar visit followed by a sunset cruise through the mangroves, glass of bubbly in hand.
  • 3-Stop Coral Safari: Join a guided tour focused on exploring shallow, vibrant coral lagoons in the East End.

Eco-Tours and Marine Education

  • Marine & Eco Camps: These multi-day camps are designed for kids and teens, with activities such as snorkeling, classroom sessions on marine biology, and hands-on conservation work.
  • Coral Restoration: Adults and older teens can participate in Coral Conservation courses that include visits to the resort’s own coral nurseries to learn about reef protection.
  • Mangrove Tours: Often combined with sunset trips, these excursions explore the island’s vital coastal nurseries.

Resort Recreation

  • Kayaks and Bicycles: Guests at Compass Point Dive Resort—including families and solo travelers—have complimentary access to bicycles and kayaks for exploring the quiet roads and coastline of the East End.
  • Pool and Training Area: There are two swimming pools, including a 10-foot-deep pool ideal for practicing snorkel skills, swim lessons for all ages, or taking a “Discover Scuba” trial session.

Nearby Off-Site Activities

With a rental car included in most Dive & Stay packages, you’re free to explore these nearby attractions at your own pace:
  • Cayman Parrot Sanctuary: Visit friendly parrots, agoutis, and guinea pigs, just a mile from the resort.
  • Stroll through the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, just a 5-minute drive away, and discover the famed Blue Iguanas and lush tropical gardens.
  • Head to Rum Point Beach Club for lunch, beach fun, and a refreshing swim in inviting shallow waters—the perfect spot for a sunny day out.

Grand Cayman is an easy flight

Grand Cayman is easily accessible via nonstop flights from many major hubs in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
  • Major Airlines: Cayman Airways (national flag carrier), American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines provide regular service.
  • Miami (MIA): 1 hour 20 minutes.
  • New York (JFK/EWR): 3.5 to 4 hours.
  • Tampa (TPA): 1 hour 40 minutes.
  • London (LHR): Direct via British Airways, often with a Nassau stop.
  • To travel between Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac, take a domestic flight with Cayman Airways Express. There is no ferry service connecting the three islands, so flying is the only option for inter-island travel.
