Wakatobi Dive Resort is known for combining high-end dive operations with relatively intimate, low-density accommodations. The resort is in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the lodging is designed around beachfront access, privacy, and easy transitions between diving and downtime. Most rooms are steps from the water and include full-board dining.

The Beach Restaurant

Wakatobi is known for its world-class dining, included with your stay and covering three meals a day plus snacks. The Beach Restaurant is the main dining area. It is an open-air, thatch-roofed hall with outdoor terraces that overlook the ocean and let in the sea breeze.

The menu features traditional Indonesian and Asian dishes, as well as international favorites, steaks, roasts, and very fresh seafood such as tuna sashimi caught the same day.

Most meals are served buffet-style, but the chefs keep the dishes fresh by regularly replacing them, so nothing sits out for long. There are also live stations for daily soups and roasts, and a pastry chef prepares fresh desserts each day.

1. Fly to Bali, Indonesia

Start by booking an international flight from the US to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar, Bali.

Major airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, EVA Air, Emirates, and Qatar Airways offer flights, usually with one layover in a major Asian or Middle Eastern city.

When you fly from the US to Bali, you will cross the International Dateline. You will lose a calendar day on your way there and gain it back when you return. Make sure to keep this in mind when planning your arrival.

VIP Greeting: Once you land in Bali and pass through immigration, Wakatobi’s concierge staff will be there to greet you, assist with your baggage, and help you through customs.

2. Stay Overnight in Bali

Since Wakatobi’s private charter flight leaves early in the morning, you will need to spend at least one night in Bali before heading to the resort. If you want to stay longer and explore Bali, the concierge team can help arrange your accommodations.

3. The Wakatobi Private Charter Flight

Wakatobi offers a private guest flight that takes you straight from Bali to the resort’s own airstrip.

Charter flights usually run on Mondays and Fridays.

Check-in: Check-in at the Bali airport is usually around 7:45 A.M. Resort staff will take care of your check-in and bring you to a restaurant for breakfast before you board.: The flight departs around 8:30 A.M. aboard a comfortable 70-seat turboprop aircraft with generous baggage allowances. It’s a scenic 2.5-hour flight over beautiful tropical islands.

After landing at the airstrip, you’ll take a short drive and a quick boat ride to the resort, arriving just in time for lunch. You can even go for your first dive that afternoon.

Departure Day Planning

At the end of your trip, the return charter flight usually arrives back in Bali between 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Wakatobi recommends booking your international flight out of Bali no earlier than 6:00 P.M. to give yourself enough time to connect.
