The new PADI Seal Team program 2026

The new PADI Seal Team program 2026
I’m super excited about the upgraded PADI Seal Team program and materials that just came out for 2026.
I’ve tested them prior to launch and loved teaching the PADI Seal Team program. The kids get so excited and engaged, it’s a win-win for families who want their little ones to have fun and learn about the ocean on their family vacation.

I believe this program is a game-changer for the summer, and I’ve implemented it into all my Kids Sea Camp summer events this year . In case you have not heard of the PADI Seal Team, it’s for young scuba divers aged 8 & 9 years, who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting AquaMissions. At Kids Sea Camp, since 2007, we have had special permission to take our PADI Seals in the ocean to learn and play with direct 1:2 supervision of our PADI Instructor team. Have your kids ever wondered what it’s like to dive with flashlights, take underwater digital pictures, or float effortlessly like an astronaut? Beyond learning basic scuba skills, there are specialty AquaMissions, such as wreck diving, navigation, buoyancy, environmental awareness, and more. The PADI Seal Team includes doing some cool stuff in the pool, meeting friends, and sharing in the adventure of the underwater world. To join the PADI Seal Team, a child must be 8 years of age or older. No prior scuba-diving experience is necessary, but kids should be comfortable in the water. Parental approval is required.

The refreshed PADI Seal Team program for kids aged 8-10 is an ideal summer saver for dive shops and parents in 2026. It’s a low-barrier, high-fun, pool-only introductory experience designed specifically for kids ages 8 and up—no open water required, minimal equipment overhead, and maximum engagement that gets entire families through your door. This program positions your shop as the go-to spot for family-friendly summer activities while planting the seeds for lifelong divers (and repeat customers). Kids build real scuba skills in a safe, supervised confined-water setting, earn official PADI recognition, and often beg to come back for more missions or graduate to Junior Open Water later when they turn 10The PADI Seal Team is a fun-first, skill-building scuba program that feels like an underwater adventure camp—exactly what keeps 8- and 9-year-olds hooked and brings parents and grandparents returning to your store.

The program iall conducted in a pool (max depth typically around 4 m / 12 ft for safety and comfort):

  • AquaMissions 1–5 (Core Seal Team): Kids master the fundamentals—breathing underwater, mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and swimming weightlessly. After these five missions, they officially become PADI Seal Team members and receive a certificate, membership card, and logbook.
  • 15 Specialty AquaMissions (Path to Master Seal Team): Once they have the basics, kids can continue with exciting add-on missions (no particular order or timeframe). Completing 10 additional ones earns Master Seal status.

Each mission lasts about an hour and feels like a game or mission rather than a “class.” Instructors supervise directly, I personally recommend a 1:2 ratio, and everything stays in the controlled pool environment—making it one of the safest ways to introduce scuba to kids this summer.
