Activities
Tangkoko Nature Reserve
This tour is an absolute must for any nature lovers! The Tangkoko Nature Reserve is an area of dense forestry, based at the foot of the Dua Suadara Mountain.
As we take a walk through the park, not only will you be able to see troops of the endemic Sulawesi Black Crested Macaque in the wild, cuscus and the Tarsier monkeys (the world’s smallest primate) which become active in the late afternoon.
Ornithologists will be in their element as we often spot Hornbills, Lori birds and other tropic and native species.
Paragliding
Take to the skies and see North Sulawesi from the air. You’ll take an incredible tandem paragliding flight with a professional instructor and see the landscape of the mainland and the islands of the Bunaken Marine Park from a birds-eye view.
This is a phenomenal opportunity that we are extremely excited to be able to offer at Murex Resorts – now you really can combine land, sea, and air in one trip!
Paragliding tours operate out of Tumpa, which is a 30-45 minute car journey from Murex Manado. Surcharges apply for transfers from Murex Bangka Resort.
Whitewater Rafting
Experience the thrills and spills of white water rafting in North Sulawesi.
As you travel down the river you’ll find adrenaline pumping rapids as well as calm stretches where you can admire the stunning rural scenery and tropical jungle which you pass through.
The tour includes full instruction, life vests and helmets and is an exciting adventure for all ages.
Cooking Classes
Discover the secrets behind the flavors of Asia with a cookery class while you are here. Learn about the different herbs and spices which are used in both traditional Indonesian and Manadonese classic dishes and make them with the guidance of an experienced teacher.
Many of the spices are grown here in North Sulawesi and form part of Manado’s rich history as a trading point where merchants from the west would come to buy these exotic culinary rarities.
You’ll make a selection of dishes – and of course, you’ll enjoy tasting them afterwards. For foodies and those who like hands-on activities, this is a must!
Minahasan Highland Tour
If you want to experience the nature, culture, traditions, people, and the daily way of life in North Sulawesi, a tour of the highlands is a must. There are numerous places to visit and we can tailor your day trip around what you would like to see most. Highlights of the area include:
Tomohon Traditional Markets – The highland climates are perfect for growing a variety of plants, flowers, spices, fruits, and vegetables. Visit both the traditional flower, fruits, and vegetable market where the local ladies cook traditional sweet treats according to age-old methods. You’ll also find vendors selling dried fish, herbs, spices, and a variety of traditional ingredients.
Woloan & Pulutan Villages – Visit the local villages where specialized industries are booming. See traditional Minahasan houses being built and traditional pottery being made.
Lake Linow – The colors of this lake change due to the high sulphur content in the surrounding rock and the changing light. Many bird species make this area their home. Watch out for bubbling mud holes as you walk around. This is a lovely spot to enjoy a cold drink and soak up the views.
Mahawu Volcano – The journey to Mahawu Volcano takes you through the beautiful Minahasan Highlands to the town of Tomohon. Arriving at the Ranger Station at the base of Mount Mahawu there are steps that lead to the crater’s edge where you can enjoy amazing views of Bunaken and Manado Tua Islands. If you choose you can also take the circular trek around the crater’s edge. After working up an appetite we stop for lunch at either Lake Tondano or a local restaurant that serves traditional Minahasan cuisine. This tour can also be integrated into our Minahasan highland tour.
Lake Tondano – The largest lake in the region and the second largest in Indonesia. The flat land surrounding the lakes is perfect for growing rice, one of the main livelihoods in this area. We usually enjoy lunch in one of the small restaurants on stilts overlooking the lake.
Waruga – These are historical Minahasan stone graves. Listen to the local caretaker tell you the history of this fascinating tradition. The journey to and from Tondano to this location is absolutely stunning with sweeping vistas of coconut and spice trees.

Accommodations
At Jade Mountain Resort, St. Lucia, each of the 24 infinity pool sanctuaries stands as a unique masterpiece of design and architecture. The sanctuaries offer unrivaled views of the iconic Pitons and the Caribbean Sea, with sanctuaries positioned at varying elevations. The sanctuary spaces are masterfully crafted to blend the bedroom, living area, and a lavish private infinity pool into a seamless, expansive setting that extends into the natural surroundings.
Each sanctuary boasts impressive 15-ft-high ceilings and a distinctive, individual design in which the fourth wall is deliberately absent, inviting breathtaking views while ensuring utmost privacy. The layout and size of each sanctuary vary, offering a range of personalized experiences.
To cater to different preferences, the sanctuaries are categorized into four rate types based on their square footage and pool size: STAR, MOON, SUN, and GALAXY. Alongside these, Jade Mountain Resort also offers 5 SKY whirlpool suites. These suites are equipped with a large bathtub suitable for two but do not include a private pool, providing a different yet equally luxurious experience.
The living spaces at the Jade Mountain Resort boast a remarkable array of over 20 tropical hardwood species for flooring and trims, sustainably sourced to ensure environmental responsibility. The team meticulously selected each tree from Guyana’s rainforests, reflecting a commitment to both luxury and sustainability. The variety of woods includes striking options like Purpleheart, Greenheart, and Bloodwood, all contributing to a unique, luxurious ambiance.
In addition to bespoke tropical wood furniture, an eclectic mix of furnishings enhances each sanctuary, creating distinct, personalized atmospheres. The interior walls are adorned with soft, blush-toned coral plaster from Barbados, while the exteriors feature robust concrete and local stone, complemented by large tropical-wood window frames with adjustable jalousie louvers.
The accommodations include lavish infinity pool sanctuaries in categories: star, moon, sun, galaxy, and sky, as well as whirlpool suites (not featuring a private pool). Sanctuaries feature a king-size bed and a suite of amenities: a refrigerator, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, iron, and an electronic safe, with butler service available for added convenience. Exclusive Voya guest amenities, luxurious Frette bathrobes, and towels elevate the experience. Jade Mountain’s Major Domos provide 24-hour service, ensuring an uninterrupted, pampered stay. Guests are also provided with a cell phone for seamless communication with the service team, who prioritize discretion and privacy.
Guests are encouraged to immerse themselves fully in the serene environment, as the sanctuaries are free from televisions, radios, and telephones. Cell phone use is discreetly restricted to private areas, with vibration mode recommended. While embracing tranquility, guests still have access to the internet at the reception and in their sanctuaries, along with telephone, fax, and business services. The concierge is on hand to arrange a wide range of services, from excursions to romantic dinners, ensuring a memorable, bespoke experience at Jade Mountain.

Diving / Diving Site(s)
Reefs raising out of the Pitons Mountains
The Diving
The Anse Chastanet reef starts just 10 yards beyond the water’s edge. The reef’s remarkable ecosystem offers an amazing profusion of unusual tropical marine life, in 20 to 140 feet of calm, clear water. Anse Chastanet reef, home to more than 150 species of fish, makes for an amazing dive day or night.
In the shallow areas, be sure to keep your eyes open for peacock flounders, octopus, needlefish, and turtles. Or drop down a little deeper over dense coral growth to see puffers, moray eels, parrotfish, lobsters, and even sea horses. A unique dive site for all abilities, and is especially good for macro photography.
The shore dive is a required “first” dive for dive guests. It allows divers to feel assured that all equipment is functioning properly, that their buoyancy skills are adequate for entering the marine reserve, and that they are oriented to the type of diving for which St Lucia is known. This reef is a favorite of most professional underwater photographers and videographers who visit Anse Chastanet.
Scuba St Lucia has a talented and friendly multinational staff. Its local dive leaders are true professionals who have logged thousands of dive hours in the marine reserve and will show you the fantastic sights on the reefs. The staff are very accommodating and will do their best to help out with “special requests”.
Scuba St. Lucia is a renowned National Geographic/PADI 5-Star Dive resort and DAN (Divers Alert Network) Partner in Dive Safety facility. It is located in the heart of St. Lucia’s marine reserves at the south end of Anse Chastanet Beach. Founded in 1981, Scuba St. Lucia has established itself as one of the best dive shops in the Caribbean.
The reefs in St. Lucia are some of the most underrated diving destinations in the world. This dive team is family-focused and kid-friendly, yet can also cater to photographers and adults of all skill levels. There are no pools at Anse Chastanet, so dive training is done in a training area just off the beach.
Scuba St. Lucia is perfectly set up for both beach and boat dives. She offers guests private gear storage, a well-equipped scuba store, small and large scuba tanks, ScubaPro rental dive gear, and Sealife underwater photo and video rental. Kids Sea Camp is a dealer for both ScubaPro and Sealife, so you can always shop with us and be fully outfitted and ready to dive and enjoy your family dive trip by just calling us.
Night dives are offered at least twice weekly on Anse Chastanet’s Reef, which really “wakes up” at night, with many interesting crustaceans on the move, large basket stars, sleeping parrotfish, octopus and squid, bioluminescence, and the “THING.” Scuba Courses: Scuba St Lucia is an ideal place to learn to dive, with warm, clear waters and a shallow, protected reef close to the Dive Center.
Equipment Rental
The rental facility is fully equipped with the latest scuba gear including Scubapro regulators with octopus, low-pressure inflator, depth, and pressure gauges, Seaquest/Aqualung beds, and 3mm shorty wetsuits. Also available for rental are masks, fins, and snorkels. All rental gear is serviced regularly to ensure top quality and safety. The facility is equipped with four large freshwater rinse tanks with disinfectant inside and all gear is washed after each use.
Photo and Video
The dive shop, Scuba St. Lucia, offers its clients an underwater Photo and Video center with camera rentals and custom video creation. Digital underwater cameras are also available for rental. The staff can assist with all camera and video needs and offer a range of courses, such as Underwater Videographer and Underwater Photographer.
Boats
Scuba St. Lucia operates three dive boats: Miss Ina, Miss Bertha, and Jenny-Marie. The boat dives should also not be missed. From the dramatic walls beneath the majestic Piton Mountains to Superman’s flight, a drift dive in the shadow of the Petit Piton, the diving is fantastic. Coral Gardens and Jalousie under the Gros Piton, Piton Wall, the wreck of the “Lesleen M,” Anse La Raye, and Anse Cochon are other dives that must be experienced. Closer to home for the afternoon boat trips but no less spectacular sites, the diver can explore Fairyland, Turtle Reef, Grand Caille, Trou Diable, the Pinnacles, and much more.
The pace in St. Lucia is always slow and relaxed, and the diving and activities are efficiently organized with minimal fuss. The dive boats have fresh drinking water, complete safety equipment, towels, first-aid kits, and a DAN oxygen unit.
