We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from our friends at Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire (RRFB): Kids Sea Camp has officially adopted 2 coral nursery trees!

A coral nursery tree is the first home for small, pruned coral fragments. Over the next year, each adopted tree will grow hundreds of new corals, all of which will eventually be outplanted straight back onto Bonaire’s reef. That means our community isn’t just visiting the reef — we’re actively helping rebuild it, one branch at a time.

RRFB has been restoring and protecting Bonaire’s coral reefs since 2012, combining fragmentation and outplanting, breeding, monitoring, research, and community education to help the reef become healthier and more resilient. Coral reefs across the Caribbean and the world are under real pressure, and support like this lets RRFB adapt and scale their work in real time.

Over the years, Kids Sea Camp and Ocean Wishes families have helped introduce hundreds of visiting divers, kids, and their families to coral restoration in Bonaire — through presentations, camp activities, and our coral adoption program. Together, we’ve helped facilitate more than $13,000 in donations to RRFB. That’s a huge testament to what this community can do when it comes together around something we all love: the ocean.

Every presentation, every question a kid asks about coral, every family that leaves camp with a new appreciation for the reef — it all adds up to the next generation of ocean advocates.

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks — RRFB will be sending photos of our underwater adoption tags once they’re placed on the reef, so we can literally see our trees growing.

Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire (RRFB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and protecting Bonaire’s coral reefs since 2012. Our work focuses on comprehensive coral restoration, combining fragmentation and outplanting, breeding, monitoring, research, and community engagement to support healthier and more resilient reef ecosystems for the future.

Education and outreach are also a huge part of our mission. Through presentations, training programs, school partnerships, and community outreach, our goal is to help people better understand the importance of coral reefs and how they can have a positive impact on them!

Through countless presentations and participating in our coral adoption program, they have helped facilitate more than $13,000 in donations to RRFB!

At a time when coral reefs are declining here in the Caribbean and around the world, donations help us adapt and scale our work in real-time, allowing us to respond to a rapidly changing environment.
