SABA, ST. KITTS & ST. MAARTEN: Starting from $2,695 per person: Scuba dive the Caribbean! Saba is a tiny volcanic island full of big adventures. St. Kitts is a historic island with an intriguing flare. Combine these two, and you have an outstanding diving itinerary on some of the most scenic islands in the Northeastern Caribbean.
Explorer Ventures has offered this popular route for over 30 years, a testament to the unique blend of local culture, live-aboard amenities, and vibrant underwater sights. Hop onboard the Caribbean Explorer II® to maximize bottom time with up to 5 dives daily. Plus, divers and non-divers can adventure ashore on optional land tours, rounding out this exceptional itinerary. Fall in love with Saba and St. Kitts!
Saba is known for its offshore pinnacles and deep underwater seamounts. The 5 square mile top of a dormant volcano towers 3,000 feet (914.4 m) above the surface, surrounded by warm volcanic sand. The abrupt and jagged topography above the sea is mirrored below, with dramatic dive sites and a profusion of marine life that attests to the early institution of the Saba Marine Park ‘SMP’ in 1987. Saba is Caribbean diving at its best. Favorite dive sites include Diamond Rock, Man O’War Shoals, Custom’s House, Tent Wall, Tent Reef, Ladder Labyrinth, Torren’s Point, and Third Encounter (The Needle/Eye of the Beholder). Common marine life sightings include curious nurse sharks, reef sharks, turtles, lobster, eels, and, for the lucky divers, eagle rays, sea horses, and batfish.
St. Kitts offers arguably the widest variety of sites, including finger reefs, recent wrecks, and coral labyrinths that will capture your imagination. Top dive sites include Monkey Shoals, Anchors Aweigh, Paradise Reef, Wreck of the Corinthian, and the most popular Wreck of the River Taw. The MV River Taw is continually voted as a favorite dive site among guests due to its vibrant coral growth and the surge of macro-life activity on the night dives. Photographers should bring their macro-lenses as in St Kitts. You can often spot frogfish, sea horses, and other marine life that’s considered rare in the Caribbean!

A REAL LARGE ANIMAL ADVENTURE
Socorro: Rocio Del Mar liveaboard: Join a trip for fantastic large-animal diving. Dive in Socorro with friendly giant oceanic mantas and large pelagic fish such as Humpback whales, whale sharks, dolphins, hammerheads, Galapagos sharks, tiger sharks, and silky sharks. Citizen Scientist trips with marine biologists specializing in whales, mantas, and sharks. We regularly visit the three islands: San Benedicto, Socorro, and Roca Partida. The Socorro Islands are only accessible from November through the end of May on the Rocio Del Mar. See a video about diving in Socorro islands.
November through May: The Revillagigedo Islands (also Revillagigedo Archipelago) are a group of four volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean, known for their unique ecosystem. The islands are home to many endemic plant and animal species. Socorro Island is the most diverse in flora, fauna, and topography.
The islands lie 250 miles off Baja, Mexico's southern shore. When embarking on a trip to the Socorro Islands, we plan to dive into the islands of San Benedicto, Socorro, and Roca Partida. Due to the distance to Clarion, this is only dived on more extended expeditions.
These islands are a spectacular magnet for the largest ocean pelagic animals in the world. Animals include schooling hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, friendly bottlenose dolphins, silky sharks, Galapagos sharks, clouds of jacks and barracuda, tuna, wahoo, oceanic white tip sharks, whale sharks, and manta rays.
Manta Rays are the claim to fame for Socorro Islands. The island where they predominately congregate is San Benedicto. The magical dive site, "The Boiler," is a submerged sea mount and cleaning station. More than a half dozen mantas frequent this pinnacle regularly. The mantas in the Revillagigedo Islands are friendly and enjoy the presence of humans. This is truly an exceptional place to experience the manta magic.
Humpback whales visit during the winter months of mid-February through mid-April. We often hear the sounds of the singing mating males as they provide escort underwater. Surface sightings are common during this time.
Whale sharks can be seen during November, December, and May. May is also when we can see giant bait balls and pods of false orcas.
This destination can only be dived by a liveaboard dive vessel. It takes approximately 26-28 hours one way to reach the islands. This is an excellent dive destination for large pelagics due to the islands' open ocean nature, which sometimes includes currents and choppy conditions. The underwater topography consists of rocky outcroppings, boulders, and incredible walls. There is not much in the way of coral, as this is a cooler water destination.
What's included
