Dominica “Empty nester” week
Fort Young Hotel
In 2018, Family Dive Adventures hosted it’s first ever “Empty Nester” week to the Maldives. It was the first week ever where a Kids Sea Camp company did not invite any kids, just the big kids and we’re all big kids! In 2019, we are revisiting the island of Dominica to enjoy some of the best diving in the Caribbean.

Dominica: Ranked as the number one Caribbean Island by TripAdvisor. The island is also featured among the most ethical destinations worldwide by Ethical Traveler, Dominica offers more than its surrounding islands yet remains unspoiled by the impacts of mass tourism. Embraced by lush foliage and secluded beaches throughout, the island fosters one’s most dream-like fascinations. With world-class diving, whale watching and boundless wildlife amongst the Caribbean’s longest hiking trail and only Natural World Heritage site.
Dominica realizes adventurous living amidst untrammeled natural splendor. Meander the island’s thermal spas, 365 rivers, dramatic waterfalls, well-preserved colonial architecture. And the last remaining home of the indigenous Carib peoples.
Fort Young Hotel: Built to protect the island, Fort Young Hotel has always commanded a position like no other. Located in Roseau, Dominica’s capital and only “downtown,” it sits in the main marina with the ferry port and market just a minute’s walk from its entrance.
Fort Young Hotel is ideal exposure to Dominica’s vibrant culture and delicious cuisine. From your room’s balcony, the sights and sounds of the capital vanish, replaced by the gentle lapping of waves and endless expanse of the sea and sky.
Activities: For scuba diving families, there is a fully equipped PADI 5 star Buddy Dive Dominica dive shop at the Fort Young Hotel, and also their very own jetty where the boats come to pick you up, whether you are diving, snorkeling or heading off into the bay to go whale watching. Hikers can arrange a wide variety of excursions in close proximity to the hotel such as treks to waterfalls in the rainforest and bird watching trips from Fort Young Hotel’s own activities desk.
If you are looking for some traditional Caribbean relaxation, there’s always Fort Young’s rooftop Jacuzzis, infinity pool, gymnasium, and spa. We make it easy for you to combine the best of both worlds: explore Dominica’s colorful underwater world during fascinating dives off Buddy Dive’s customized dive boats while also experiencing the natural and cultural wonders of the island with Fort Young’s land excursions.
