Philippines: Sea Explorers

THE 2025 KIDS SEA CAMP FAMILY DIVE ADVENTURE

This is our #1 top choice for family diving. There are few diving destinations in the world, like the Philippines. The diving offers muck diving, macro diving, big animal encounters, whale sharks, giant frogfish, and macro frogfish. The Pygmies, Wow, are they cool! That’s right; the Philippines has Pygmy Seahorses and many nudibranchs found nowhere else. Malapascua, an add-on to our Philippine trip, is one of the only places on Earth where we take you to dive with Thresher sharks at a cleaning station on Monad Shoal.  We customize family scuba diving vacations with Sea Explorers. Our locations include Malapascua, Dauin, Bohol, Oslob, Apo Island, and Ando. We have taken kids and families to the Philippines for a decade. Call us to talk about your next dive trip to the Philippines. We are the experts in dive travel for groups and individual family vacations. Let us help you dive into the Philippines. 803-419-2556

In the Philippines, we offer photo classes, culinary classes, weddings, vow renewal, Mountain school visits, market tours, Rescue, Divemaster, and even IDC instructor development courses.  Each resort has a swimming pool and spa.
Kids Sea Camp charters our partnered PADI 5-star resorts with their dive operations to host our unique and custom-created curriculums. We focus on educational and cultural experiences for the entire family on our trips. Margo, Tom Peyton, and Olivia Rapisand will take this group to the Philippines this summer.

We understand that some family members do not dive, so we have created a diversified daily schedule to provide fun things to do for all family members.

Buoyancy is critical in the Philippines as protecting the coral reefs and marine life is a top priority.  Kids Sea Camp will assist with arranging refresher courses, buoyancy checks, navigation, signals and signs used underwater, and any other concerns.  There are sites to dive for every level of diver, and private guides and private boats make it easy to accommodate individual needs and desires.

We offer SASY, Seal Team, and PADI certification classes, and even discover scuba in the Philippines. We can arrange Nitrox courses, digital photography, Fish ID, Adventure Diver, Underwater Naturalist, and even Advanced Open Water certifications for kids or adults who are already certified. We also offer other specialties and can provide Pro-level courses. We have created and implemented activities above and below for family time and time to make new friends. We have included cultural activities, presentations, and tours in Amun ini and Dauin.

Terms & Conditions: No refund policy applies to all Kids Sea Camp Inc. payments. This includes disruptions due to weather, illness, pandemic, epidemic, acts of God, war,  government mandates, canceled/delayed flights, and all unforeseen circumstances outside of Kid Sea Camp Inc.’s control. Introducing the magical islands of the Visayas Sea

Immersion travel begins and ends with this family adventure!

By Margo Peyton, founder of Kids Sea Camp

After landing in Manila (MNL), you will pass through customs and immigration; friendly smiles and helpful hands will then meet you, The Philippine Department of Tourism, with Biggs Eggert of  Amun ini & Sea Explorers, handing you a cool facecloth and a bottle of water. And assisting with the collection of your bags.  We will then head to your domestic departure for your connecting flight to (TAG) airport by private transfer. You will be met and transferred to Amun Ini Resort, about a 1.5hr ground transfer to the resort.

During our stay in the Philippines, you will dive with Amun Ini, Sea Explorers, and all PADI 5-Star dive shops.  Top-notch service, smaller dive gear, and tanks for kids are provided and include a well-trained staff for all levels of divers. Each resort and dive shop will accommodate prominent rig photographers and first-time divers.  Each boat has hot coffee and tea, warm face cloths, fresh fruit, baked bread, and other goodies that await you when you return from your dive. To top it all off, you never have to touch your gear except to put it on and a giant stride into your next dive. Dive gear is rinsed and perfectly adorned atop your tank,  awaiting your return. Heaven!  Nothing makes the staff happier on this trip than to see the smile on your faces, and that’s why their tagline is “Dive with a smile” because you certainly will.

These are humble people that pride family and each other above all things. Unlike most places, all the dive staff with Sea Explorers is provided health insurance and are well paid. Chris and Biggs treat them like family, and they are just that.

This trip showed me the most incredible and vibrant reefs I have ever seen in my 30 years of diving. It affected me so much that I dreamt about the colors for months, and it sadly changed my mind’s eye when diving into the Caribbean. For 6 nights and 5 days, You will enjoy Amun Ini. During your stay, Biggs will arrange for the group to travel over to the chocolate hills, zip line, and the hanging bridge on the island of Bohol.

Dauin: Pura Vida Homes and Resort.  The one and two-bedroom villas can easily accommodate families of 5 and are crafted from rich hardwoods and majestic views. The beautiful beach, two pools, gym, spa, and wedding chapel were most inspiring.

Along with all the local traditions, there is a modern feel, microwaves, coffee makers, and the most comfortable beds in the Philippines. There are villages to explore, a mountain school, and more fantastic diving than any other place in the world I have dove.  This trip is over the top and, hands down, my favorite destination to dive. Guests will enjoy diving, yoga, sups, zipline, waterfall hikes, and paddle boarding.

Diving Apo Island provides an endless view of colorful soft corals, teeming with fish and punctuated with my favorite, turtles! To end the day, you can do a muck dive. I had read about them for years and never thought the moment would come. Tiny orange frogfish the size of a gumball, vibrant tiger shrimp and anemone crabs, pink seahorses, and little soft-bodied gastropods called nudibranchs that presented extraordinary colors and patterns I could have never imagined. This type of diving allows kids to slow down and focus on the tiniest of beings in this magical underwater world.

You can enjoy some crazy fun diving Oslob on our way from or to Amun ini when conditions permit during the crossing. With Sea Explorers, you will dive in 35’ of warm, clear water while observing the whale sharks feeding on krill. I had only been diving with Whale sharks in the Galapagos, and it is just fabulous diving in these much warmer waters. Kids and families can snorkel or dive from Dauin anytime during their stay.

I hope you will find, as I did, this destination to be one of the most welcoming, safe, and smile-driven places on earth. If you’re ready to take a break from electronics and your virtual world, I invite you to experience these magical islands of the Visayas Sea.

The Philippines brings your imagination to life. Join us for an epic dive journey to the Philippines to explore and experience new worlds above and below that will open your children’s eyes to humbleness, happiness, and a new way of looking at life they will remember forever.

Diving with a smile with Sea Explorers

We dive with the best for family, and that is with Sea Explorers, a PADI 5-Star IDC.  The Sea Explorers dive team is with us throughout our entire stay in the Philippines. They provide top-notch service. This operation has plenty of smaller gear and tanks for adults and certified kids. The dive staff is well-trained for all levels of divers. They accommodated prominent rig photographers and first-time divers alike.

Each boat offers hot coffee and tea, warm facecloths, fresh fruit, and baked bread when you return from your dive. And to top it all off, you don't even have to touch your gear except to put it on and take it off.  It is rinsed and perfectly adorned atop your Nitrox tank, awaiting your return — Heaven!

Nothing makes the staff happier on this trip than to see the smile on your faces, and I guess that’s why their tagline is “Dive with a smile” because they certainly do.

        Dive Training

        • PADI SASY program: 6 mornings of activities from 8 am -1 pm daily. SASY kids keep fins, mask, and snorkel, rental gear included
        • PADI SEAL TEAM: 6 daily morning activities from 8 am-1 pm, including all 5 aqua missions. Dive rental gear provided
        • PADI Open WaterAll dives needed for certification (eLearning is not included.  For eLearning, use the link provided and pay the fee directly to PADI. E-learning needs to be completed prior to arrival.)
        • PADI Dive Master course: RSVP 12 DAYS REQUIRED $975 add-on to package price/Contact Margo at 803.419.2556 for more information. PADI C Card, E: learning, and Crew Pack included
        • PADI Dive Rescue Diver: RSVP $450 add-on to package price/Contact Margo at 803.419.2556 for more information. PADI C Card, E: learning, and Crew Pack included.
        • KSC certification: PADI has approved its first Kids Sea Diver Specialty course. The certification developed by PADI and KSC founder Margo Peyton is designed to make families that dive together become better dive buddies. The certification is to assist parents and other adult family members who want to update and refresh some of the introductory skills divers learned during previous dive training. The program provides education for those wanting to become more aware of environmental issues and concerns impacting the regions they are currently diving.
        • A KSC reboot, by going through the course a new Kids Sea Camp Diver will show mastery in both divings and be a well-trained and confident parent and child buddy team. Divers will have training and education in environmental stewardship and watermanship. There will be an emphasis throughout the course on safety, teamwork, and conservation.

The goals of the Kids Sea Camp Diver distinctive specialty training:

        • Reinforcement of the “Good Buddy” principles and practices for adults and kids diving together.
        • Refresh divers with basic signs and skills learned in open water courses and update skills and technique changes since their certification.
        • Educate parents and adults about the benefits of continuing education in diving.
        • Encourage interest in leadership roles that promote responsible diving and safer dive planning.
        • Discuss local eco-issues, concerns, customs, and traditions and how this has impacted local environments. Examples: Overfishing, land run-off, plastic introduction, depletion of marine animals.
        • Identify local environmental issues, discuss solutions, and create awareness.

Digital photo course: $225 + e:learning. Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties. With so many underwater cameras, it has become easier and more fun than ever to capture images of your underwater scuba adventures. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly, whether you use a point-and-shoot camera or a sophisticated DSLR like the pros. PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least ten years old can take the Digital Underwater Photographer course. Because underwater photography is also popular with snorkelers, there is an option for avid snorkelers and skin divers to complete the course.

Nitrox course: $75 + e:learning. The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no-decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver. If you’re a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course. Note that in some regions the minimum age is older than 12. You’ll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lowers nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practice session, and two optional (or required) scuba dives, you’ll:

        • Discuss managing oxygen exposure.
        • Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank.
        • Set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.

You may be able to get college credit for the PADI Enriched Air Diver course – ask your instructor to learn more.

PADI Whale Shark Aware certification: $75 Whale sharks are the largest fish in the sea, yet are known as gentle giants with little known about their activities or population size. Research and monitoring programs are helping fill these knowledge gaps. Learn about whale shark biology, behavior, and distribution. Practice passively observing these large creatures during two scuba dives or snorkeling excursions.

PADI Shark Aware certification: $75 Sharks are crucial to marine ecosystems, yet sharks are declining globally. Learn about the value of sharks and what is causing the rapid loss of shark populations. The course may include two scuba dives or be presented as a non-diving education program. The first dive of this distinctive specialty course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

See more about Kids Sea Camp dive training.

        The Filipino feast

Pura Vida Restaurant: In the overlooking restaurant at the beach, the resort is serving its breakfast buffet. Pura Vida has also set up tables and chairs as well as a big group table at the beach where you can enjoy your lunch or a romantic dinner under the starry sky. The menu offers a wide range of meals from local menus through different Asian and European kitchens.

Pura Vida Beach Bar: At the Pura Vida Beach bar you can enjoy a wide range of tropical drinks and order some snacks. Directly beside the pool and at the beach, the staff will follow up on your order and serve it while you enjoy your time on the sunbed.

If you are traveling with a child that is not your own, a single parent with a child, a child with a different last name, or traveling without both natural parents of the child, you will require documentation proving your right to travel with children. Since regulations vary by country, contact your consulate or embassy of your country and visit the immigration site of the country you are traveling to for the requirements. Kids Sea Camp Reservation Office and staff will not assume responsibility for passengers not having the correct documentation.
